“Education for whole person combining humanism and technology”

It was founded in 1976 with 4 departments and 880 students. In the 24 years since it opened, about 26,000 students have graduated.

The university was founded with the goal of educating students as leading technicians with specialized knowledge and skills and a sense of public service. We believe that science and technology without a human nature base can be rather harmful to the society. Hence, Dong Seoul university aims to help the students achieve personal harmony by educating technology and good character simultaneously. Thus, we, the faculty, have been enthusiastic in developing young men and women into intelligent, creative, and productive adults who seek after truth and lead a sound life.
We are making every effort to develop student-centered and open education programs which we believe provide students with creativity and variety. For up-to-date technology education, we introduce the latest computers and internet programs. The university makes effort to keep up with the standard of international institutes. For this purpose we are constantly updating our curriculum, reinforcing foreign language education, and making exchange programs with advanced institutes in other countries. We continue our effort to be a leading university with respect to pursuing a venture spirit and globalization.

The Cyber Education Center of Dong Seoul university has been selected as one of the most distinctive programs by the Ministry of Education in 1997. With reinforcement of the current cyber education system, we are planning to implement the true cyber education. All the administrative and management systems are computerized and all the courses will be changed into multimedia system courses.

The Institute of Industrial Technology has also been appointed as one of the best institutes for two consecutive years, 1997 and 1998. As of the year 1999 we have been designated as a university that gives technology guidance to small and medium-sized companies. We are also developing tailored education courses sponsored by the Ministry of Education. To assist students in finding employment, we maintain a strong school and company cooperation through mutually beneficial exchange programs. Active employment service on campus is also provided for students.
